When you start getting bored with your photography and need a little creativity you grab a gorgeous red head and head up to the highest mountain you can find at the earliest time of day to get your inspiration back.
I am fortunate to live in an area where there are the most beautiful mountains in the entire US. This is Black Balsam located in Asheville, NC. I have always wanted to come here at sunrise and do a session but I am NOT a morning person so it is very hard for me to actually get up at 5:00am and have motivation to capture something gorgeous.
On our way up to Black Balsam it was so foggy that while I was driving I could not even see 3 feet in front of me. To get to Black Balsam you have to drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have ever been on the Blue Ridge Parkway you know that the road is pretty narrow and there are several places where there is a cliff right beside you, so you can imagine how nervous I was while driving. I was driving in the middle of the road because I could not see the edge and I kept thinking “I hope a car doesn’t come” or “I hope a deer doesn’t run out in front of me”. The car was dead silent because we were all so nervous. Then to top it all off Carli (my lovely model) got car sick. I literally had to stop the car about half way up, in the middle of the road and let her get out to throw up. Carli announced that I should probably stop the car and I thought she was just nervous of my driving, but when she insisted that I needed to stop the car immediately I knew she was going to be sick. I’m sure she was feeling like crap during this session but she still rocked it. She is an amazingly gorgeous girl inside and out and this session was everything I was hoping for!
