Shelby + Tommy’s engagement session is one that I will never forget. They are just a really fun couple to work with. Shelby and Tommy are not into anything fancy, and they are so laid back that I could tell them to do anything and they would do it. So from a photographers stand point that is basically the ideal couple to work with!
Through this process they have become more than just clients, they have become friends. Of course I strive for that with every couple and family I work with but some people you just click more with than others, so needless to say Shelby and Tommy are my kind of people!
For their engagement session I took them to a place that I have always loved. Hanging Rock State Park. We started at the lower falls, and this area is one of the prettiest falls with a short drive from where we are from.
As we finished with the lower falls Shelby and Tommy changed into another outfit and we started our hike to the top of Hanging Rock.
The wind was unbelievably strong that day and I love some wind! It helps to capture the movement happening in the photograph. However, I asked them to get out on the ledge for some of the last photos. When they got back they were telling me that it was hard to even stand up because they were afraid they would lose their balance. But, like any good photographer would say, “anything for a good photo”.
I had asked them to dance for me which I do a lot because when people are dancing you get to see so much happiness and laughter. At first I did not tell them how to dance I just asked them to dance so what I got was Shelby backing it up on to Tommy. I laughed so hard I almost cried, because most people start to slow dance, but not these two! That’s why I love them!
